XM296 (cn 14130) The Admiral s Barge of the Flag Officer, Naval Air Command, undergoes final ground runs prior to return to service after a 4-month Modernisation at RAF Kemble. Delivered 1958 to the Queens Flight at Benson, it went to 60 Squadron, Wildenrath in 68 & to 781 Sqn, RN, at Lee-on-Solent in 72, becoming the Barge that October & moving to Yeovilton in 83. It later became G-BVBI & was eventually sold to the USA and still carried these colours in 2007, registered N82D. (Pentax 35mm; colour print film)

This aircraft was ex 60Sqn. RAF and previous to that,my aircraft 27 MU. RAF shawbury.I delivered this Heron to Lee On Solent 1972 after the Navy ditched theirs in the Irish Sea after running out of fuel.From ex Flt. Lt.Fred Butcher.f.butcher@sky.com

Very nice editing in this picture! It's hard to imagine it was taken in 1986, given the quality of some other ones from the date.
