The Blackburn Buccaneer was a Royal Navy (RN) carrier-borne attack aircraft designed in the 1950s. The Buccaneer was originally designed in response to the Soviet Union's massive Sverdlov-class cruiser construction programme. The Buccaneer was finally purchased by the RAF, entering service in 1969. Underneath the wing this Buccaneer The Westinghouse AN/AVQ-23E Pave Spike is an electro-optical laser designator targeting pod used to direct laser-guided bombs to target in daylight, visual conditions.
