This was the first visit of an RAF King Air following military ratification of the category of fire cover available at Staverton. Hitherto, crews with business at the flying training HQ at nearby RAF Innsworth had to fly into Brize Norton some forty miles away (although Staverton routinely handles bigger civilian aircraft). The 45 Sqn King Airs are provided for multi-engine flying training at Cranwell under contract with Serco Defence Services. (400D, anti-shake Sigma 80-400 & fluid-head tripod)
