The Sopwith 7F-1 was designed in 1917 and this particular example was built in 1918. The type entered military service near the end of the First World War and did gain a number of combat victories despite its brief involvement in the war. The production of the Snipe ended in 1919, with just under 500 being built. This particular aircraft was brought to the USA by actor Reginald Denny and used in one or more movies. In 1960 it was restored as a "Denny I" registered N6638 with cn 50131 and flown. Later it was displayed at the USAF Museum before coming to Canada.
