Silver painted MK356 is presently one of five Spitfires operated by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. It was built at Castle Bromwich and since March 1944 assigned to No 443 Squadron RCAF. During war was three-time repaired after belly landings. After the WW2 was used as gate guardian at Hawkinge and Locking and than transfered to museum at St. Athan. Into airworthy condition was restored in 1997. Since 2008 the aircraft has been presented as UF-Q, MJ250 of No 601 (County of London) Squadron the aircraft of Flt Lt Desmond Ibbotson DFC*. She is in a silver paint scheme used during late 1944 when the Squadron carried out fighter bomber missions over the Balkans from bases in Southern Italy. Ibbotson claimed eleven confirmed victories during WW2.
