One of the undoubted highlights of the 2010 UK airshow season, the Spitfire and Typhoon 'Duo', initiated to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

Spitfire Pilot :"Darn it, i've got a weird looking kraut on me tail! call the Bomber command! call Fighter command! god knows what the hell this is anyway!"

Typhoon pilot: Hey, this guy is still living in the battle of Britain age is he? He flies like a cow!"

@ Macedonian guy: the question is "Could an ASRAAM even lock a spit?"

As you all should realise the Spitfire is way more manoeuvrable than the Typhoon since it flies 3 to 4 times slower when both put the pedal to the metal. It has been tried (staged) by the RAF with a Lightning vs. a Spit and the Spit was able to pump quite some lead into the jet, especially during hard turns. Of course a Typhoon is better than a Lightning, but still... I haven't got too much knowledge about locking of ASRAAM or AIM-9 missiles, but I guess the Spit could shake a Typhoon quite easily; it just can't get away, since the jet outruns her easily.

Hey, piston engines do also produce quite a lot of heat, mates :) Question of a heat-seeking missle tracking a Spitfire may come down to just reprogramming the seeker to other frequencies.

An exciting dog fight! I bet the final score will be 1-0 for Spitfire. As I know, many parts of WWII planes are made by wood so it should be very difficult for EF2000's radar to find and lock on Spit! (Ali Aminzadeh)
