PM631 was a high altitude photo reconnaissance Spitfire with a Griffon 66 engine and pressurised cockpit built in November 1945. To the RAF was delivered in 1946 and in May 1949 transfered to 203 Advanced Flying School. Modified for meteorological work, flown with the Temperature and Humidity Monitoring (THUM) Flight based at Hooton Park and Woodvale. In 1957 entered into the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and in 1968 flown in movie “Battle of Britain”. Presently flies in livery of early PRXIX Spitfire from No. 541 Squadron, with invasion stripes, which performed high altitude reconnaissance missions over the Europe after D-Day to the end of the war.
