Originally conceived by the Air Ministry as a back-up for the fledgling Hawker Hunter program, the Swift endured many problems - tragic testing accidents and major design changes. Eventually she became a very capable reconaissance aircraft - fast and very strong. Sadly she was the last product of the legendary Supermarine company, responsible for wonderful flying boats, Schneider Trophy success and of course the Spitfire. Preserved in perfect condition at the Newark Air Museum.
