Built in 1953 and put into storage at RNAS Culdrose just a year later, after flying less than 2 hours in total. Preserved at various Royal Navy bases until being acquired by A&AEE Boscombe Down in 1964. Flown from there as a chase aircraft, photographic platform and general 'hack'. Performed a deck-landing and take-off on HMS Hermes in 1966. Eventually gave up her Merlin engine to keep the BBMF Spitfire AB910 airworthy. Displayed at RAF Museum Cosford since November 1979.
