Built in 1939 at Heaton Chapel, this Fulmar, a two seat fighter aircraft, first flew at Ringway in Manchester on 4th Jan 1940 before moving to Boscombe Down (C Sqdn) for trials and onboard HMS Illustrious. It's powered by a 1,035hp Rolls Royce Merlin VIII engine and armed with eight fixed Browning guns mounted in the wings. Her last recored flight was in December 1962, joining the FAAM in 1972. The first of 600 built, this is the only remaining example of the type (Canon 50D + 24-105 F/4 L)
