Built in March 1945 and completing it's maiden test flight on 12/04/1945 at US Naval Station Brooklyn, New York, this single seat fighter aircraft is powered by a 2,250hp Pratt and Whitney Double Wasp R-2800-10W engine. It was equiped with six 0.50 calibre guns in the wings, six 60lb rocket projectiles or two 1,000lb bombs below the wings. It arrived at the Fleet Air Arm Museum in 1970 and is seen on display here in Hall 2 (Canon 50D + Sigma 10-20 EX DC HSM)
