Unique point of view. Great composition!!
Never seen this view before. Well done!
I'd bet neither of these two gent's were born when this BUFF rolled off the factory floor! I too have spent hours in the IP seat; back in the day, as a maintainer I have even spent time in the Pilots seat flying this mighty aircraft. This is a wonderfully crafted photo, thanks to the crews and the USAF for supporting NASA and Manned Space flight! --DtD
Do they need a broom to move all those thrust levers?
Nice and really intersting picture. The truck seen in the RHS window is either a new ultrasecret refueling flying truck, or the plane is still on the ground ;-)
On the ground and I'm guessing a timed picture or a remote shutter. Great idea for a photo. Bravo!
Awesome shot. Looks like apocalypse is coming!
That's why cameras have a 2 second delay option for wireless remote. Simply brilliant capture.
Fantastic. MORE B-52s please. I wondered if they were on the ground and then I saw the reflections in their visors. How about that observer's seat? Pretty austere, isn't it? How'd you like to sit there for a 14 hour flight? Ask me how I know. We flew all around the US and into Canada in that time. Right behind the IP's seat (Instructor Pilot's seat) there against the left bulkhead is a single crew rest bunk. Although during our 14 hour flight there was no relief pilot onboard and sleeping was prohibited. The two pilots did ALL the flying...in and out of low level routes and a high level bomb run also. And a simulated penetration of Canada. The movie Dr Strangelove realtively accurately depicted the feel of the interior of the BUFF. From the cramped spaces to those white flood lights behind the pilot's seats and even to the coded messages coming in over the coded switch. Pretty accurate really. But let me tell you something, the real world pilots are more like the pilots in the movie Fail Safe. They are highly skilled and more importantly, they are determined. The scenario in Fail Safe was probably totally accurate at the time. These guys are sharp troops, and resourceful. They WILL get through to the target. Have no doubt about that.
I am curious to know as I can't see the reflection in either of the visors clearly enough - has a camera with a timer been set up in front of the window, or is the photographer awkwardly straddling the center console?
