N37602 "Spruce Goose" getting assist from Long Beach Shipyard's Floating Crane YD-171 in Long Beach Harbor. The crane was brought to USA from Germany after WWII. In 1996 the crane was moved to the Panama Canal for duty since the shipyard had been closed for several years.

I RON T WAS ONE OF OPERATOR FOR THE LIFTING OF THE SPROOSE GOOSE. IN 1981 WHEN IT WAS LIFTED OUT WATER, WHERE IS THE CRANE NOW,AND IS JOE NOVLICH STILL ON 171.
