84-1393 / EF (cn 5C-175) Wearing a special 90th Anniversary paint scheme this F-16 is seen just a few weeks before the unit transfers to UAV's and this particular aircraft is retired to a museum in Houston.

The 1917 date reflects how long the 111th squadron has been around. it was Army Air Corp before it became the US Air Force in 1947

The 90 years doesnt have to do with the creation of the usaf, but rather how long planes have been flying at Ellington Field.

The paint job commemorates the 90th anniversary of the 111th FS, not the USAF.

Great pic! The Air Force has gone retro.

They got the established date wrong, though. The USAF was created into its own independant service was 1947, not 1917.
