B1 - B and pass the sound wall. very exciting.
As an Air Force veteran I have always had a soft spot in my heart for the aircraft of the USAF. Being a Fuels Specialist I filled all the aircraft assigned. I was lucky enough to see these condensation effects on the flight line up close and personal . It is an awesome visual!
I had the pleasure of being assigned to work on B-1B's while I was in the Air Force. There's nothing like watching these birds take off in full afterburner and pull straight up and away. As you look at this photo imagine it flying just above tree level at mach speed. This was it's intended ingress mode.
Ready for wedding :) | |
This picture is the embodiment of the B-1B, captured in all her glory. Grace and absolute power wrapped into one. I get goosebumps EVERY time I'm lucky enough to see her fly.....
Lancer is one of the most bomber .... and nice picture
Only, this One-and-Only Beauty, can do this, to this day! So expertly, built by Americas's Rockwell employee's! Keep Her flying!... You just never know, we might just, God Forbid, have to threaten someone with her awesome, strategic might.
Kool plane | |
Excellent shot! Must be doing about Mach .98 or so. When the aircraft is at Mach 1, the barrier is at the very aft tip of the plane, above Mach 1 it "trails" behind it. Great shot though!
Technical quality of photo combined with unusual (less so these days, but still) subject matter. All in all an esthetically pleasing photo.
Nice picture!!!! | |
2 girls at the same time or a flight in a B1....tough call.
I've got a thing for the B-1B Lancer.
This plane looks like it's wearing a tutu! I love it!
Very good detail Gregg.
Wow amazing aircraft, amazing picture
Love this one ! 5/5 | |
Wow , Just BEAUTIFUL, AWSOME, Nice time for taking the picture , SUPER SONIC :P GRT.
Great picture - thanks.
Invisible wall of water
Absolutely amazing | |
Circular halo cloud as goes supersonic, during low fly-by pass.
Fabulous | |
Its amazing it's like there's somthing there to break through besides sound.
I just like it!! | |
I would say that the Mach 1.2 B-1B in this photo is definatly breaking the sound barrier!,in very humid conditions,Robbins,Georgia possibly.
Excellent timing,color saturation is superb.
Ballerina:) | |
The vortex around the plane makes it splendid, plus the plane itself displays a very confident personality.
Woahhhh thats awesome maaan!
I find the detail fascinating that shows the relatively small amount of condensation near the cockpit compared to the much larger :halo" of condensation farther back. I don't really understand the physics, but this photo's very revealing and potentially instructive.
Always love seeing another expansion wave, and on a B-1B it's even better!
Seeing a man made object piercing the natureal phenomena of the sound bsrrier
Great shot. Brings to light the visual effects when a aircraft breaks the sound barrier.
Breaking the sound barrier!!!!!!!!! The huge halo is condensation of water vapour due to lower pressure in that areas Great PIC!!!A very rear one!!!
Ghostly--like appearing from a time warp!
A pic full of ACTION;cool,cool,cool!!!
Amazing .... I can see now what's behind the word Mach 1 !!
Could not have been framed or captured any better!!! One of the best shots ever!!
That's lucky luke!!! | |
Men, that's AMAZING!!!
This picture is so cool. it's almost like something heavenly is protecting it.
Once in a lifetime event.
Is that the speed of sound,
One of the most beautilful photos of an aircraft I have seen.
Ah yes, the mighty B-1B Lancer. Wickedly fast bomber showing it's stuff. Looks like the 127thBS/184thBW boys are at it again. Amazing bird!!! Amazing photography!!!
This is one of the best pictures I've seen..
Unique | |
What? Yea!!!!!! what? Yea!!!!!!! what? Yeaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!
Fantastic | |
Well it's going faster than sound so it has to be cool.
Its mind blowing.. who caught this one in his camera
The brilliant blue sky and the perfect timing of the shot let's you focus without distraction on the purpose of the picture: going supersonic...
Alwsome! | |
This is and awesome photo!
Outstanding foto!!! | |
It's beauty, and combination of something that seems visually impossible.
Very nice picture because i`ve never senn such a photo before. its not that usual "air-show photo"
Spectacular !! | |
Catching a vapor cone is one in a millon - takes a lot of skill and more than a little luck!
I was there at the beach to witness this pass during the Blues Beach show..simply outstanding!
This is a crazy photo. I loved it.
Superb | |
It is so marvellous because of the atmospheric phenomena around the wings and tail of the aircraft!!! Never saw something like it before. Pablo
Sound wave is superb! | |
Cool pic of a beautiful plane doing an incredible thing.
Awesome....at the moment Mach 1 was reached!
The shot is great because of the moment the photo was taken, the clarity, composition and exposure all contribute to make this an awesome photo
Great photo! How was that picture taken?
Cool | |
Fantastic! | |
WOW -CANT BELIEVE... | |
AWESOME!! | |
That's spectacular to see and not only hear the sound barrier
Superb detail - four distinct low-pressure areas producing the "halo effect". Canopy, inlet cowls plus the main zone. One thing to bear in mind is that the effect needn't be when the aircraft is "breaking the sound barrier" as it can be produced near the speed of sound, should conditions allow. Stunning shot, though, congratulations...!
That photo is great. | |
BEAUTIFULL! | |
Especially great shot because it caught the moment of transition to Mach 1 -- breaking the sound barrier.
Great shot, great job | |
Very nice picture. Only one cloud @ the sky would be picked up by an aircraft. Pretty nice I think.
Good | |
Very beautiful effect and very good shot of this photographer !
They shouldn't call it a "barrier", because it's not anymore! Cool shot
Extremely, unique. | |
What a truly amazing photograph! PERFECT timing! Amazing of how jets can break through the sound barrier!
Sound barrier is so particular !
Timing is truly everything!
Wonderful----a one billion dollar aircraft crashing through "the wall"
Showing how the water vapor is visible in the vacuum portion of the sonic boom is just plain amazing. I fly, and one thing that has always bothered me is that I cannot see the majority of the action of the air. Clouds tell the tale. This bird even sports a Mach-one misty Mohawk!
What sort of pressure impact on the airframe? does the vapour form at the lower pressure area's? Wow tis is one stunning picture...
Great Shot | |
That is a bloody nice pic.
Thats an awsome pic | |
The sound barrier effect is always amazing. And not easy to take to because of the high speed. Well taken.
It looks like the B-1 intercepted an OVNI
Stunning image | |
Now this is amazing!! | |
I love this picture | |
Caught such detail at high speed!
1st class picture--outstanding stop action
I screwed up----this is a ten star shot
More than word can say | |
The perfect vapor 'halo'
What an amazing picture! the subject is just great!
