A visitor from United States posted Thu March 16, 2006:Good shot of the last 22 F-14Ds in service. They're not retired yet though. VF-31 will continue flying their Tomcats until September of 2006 and have a trip to the UK scheduled for this coming April. VF-213 begins transitioning to the F/A-18F in April. VF-31 will begin to transition to the F/A-18E in September. The retirement ceremony for the Tomcat is tentatively scheduled for Friday morning 22 September 2006 at Hangar 500, NAS Oceana. Keep your eyes on the 2006 airshow schedule for your last chance to see a Tomcat in flight. | |
