A majestic tragic piece of history. The average age of the guys flying those birds must have been something like 19-20 years. Incredible! Thanks for making these photos available. | |
Great piture. These machines weren't the best. The Germans had very good fighters / pilots and took them out in large numbers.. The more we must respect those bomber crews, men with ideals, fears and families like us.. | |

My fathers cousin or my 2nd cousin, Paul Stern, flew on bombing missions like this in the second world war but unfortuntely his plane was hit, knocking out the landing gear causing the plane to cartwheel upon landing and tragically killing all on board. | |
