Everyone thank you for the comments, very cool to read your writings. Yes, it is an airshow bird, standing on the flight-line together with another A-10. So the gun is part of a second A-10. And it is indeed polished aluminum which they mount on at airshows for display purposes.

Interesting that its chrome. Must be an airshow only bird at the time of the pic. Good pic and the A-10 is one of the best aircraft ever designed and produced.
