A visitor from United States posted Thu April 15, 2010: The 1917 date reflects how long the 111th squadron has been around. it was Army Air Corp before it became the US Air Force in 1947

A visitor from - posted Fri March 21, 2008: Great pic! The Air Force has gone retro. They got the established date wrong, though. The USAF was created into its own independant service was 1947, not 1917.
