Aviation Photo #1958982 General Dynamics F-16C Fighting Falcon (401) - USA - Air Force

This F-16 overrun the runway at Oshkosh during the EAA 2011 airshow. It was going about 60 miles an hour when it went off and then the nose gear collapsed. After the aircraft came to a complete stop smoke could be seen coming from the engine. In the picture a member of the hazmat is walking around the aircraft because of the Hydrazine chemical inside the EPU. Credits to Acote for editing!

That black smoke you saw coming from the nozzel was hot, compressed, combusted dirt and grass!!!

One of the big problems of F-16 in a real war would be its really poor survivability on unpaved runways, as is eminently evident from this unique picture. Congrats to the photographer.

Nice Photo.
I would love to have that cockpit section with canopy at home for simulator. Interesting will they repair it or will use for parts and maintenance training.

Never mind! Just press Esc and click on "fly new mission". You will be given a brand new one! I always do that in flight simulators!(Ali Aminzadeh)

Any landing you can walk away from is a good one. So this one is still pretty good I suppose ;-)

Congrats on the great photo.
Now.....if this thing was at 60 when it hit the grass, it's a good thing he didn't get to the grass any sooner, or we would all be looking at a fatality...........

Great photo thats shows the difference between US and Soviet aircraft. Any of Mig/Sukhoi series would have carried on across the grass no prob's.
