54-1626 (cn 182-3013) The mother of all Spectres! On February 26, 1967, the first aircraft was selected for conversion into the prototype AC-130 gunship. The modifications were done in April and May, 1967 at Wright-Patterson AFB by the Aeronautical Systems Division. Flight testing of the prototype was done primarily at Eglin AFB, Florida and began on June 6th, 1967. Flown to Nha Trang Air Base, South Vietnam arriving on 21 September 1967 for a 90-day test program. Armament: Four 7.62mm mini-guns and four 20mm cannons.Retired 1976.
