What is the chin of the B-17? It looks slightly different than the normal G-model turret.
Blues skies a Mustang a B17 AND a B29. Need I say more? :-)
It's a really great picture and rememorative too. I see the tail of a B-24 just behind the cockpit of the P-51. Thanks for sharing!!!
"Look Dad I got my pilots License"
Ed, I gotta tell you, your dad was a superb photographer. The color and resolution are remarkable for the day(1946), and are state-of-the-art. Just look at that deep blue, Pacific sky. The photo with it's period uniform and aircraft are very evocative to me, and remind me of the simpler time of my early childhood. You say perhaps the man waving his cap is warning the photographer away. I have had the photo for over a year and in that time feel like the guy is shouting,"I just got the word,we're goin' home!"
He must be de most happy men in the hole world, what else he can ask!!!???
One rarely finds good color photos from WWII. Glad your father took these and passed them along to you. Thanks for sharing. (The fellow in the photo appears to have a camera hanging around his neck too.)
