A visitor from - posted Sun March 17, 2013: F-105s were also stationed at Carswell AFB in Fort Worth Texas during this period. I was amazed to see them still in service when I got there. It was like stepping back in time. The base was populated by B-52D models. KC-135 tankers, F-105s, and Cessna T-37 trainers. The Air Force still had some sort of twin engined radial transport flying in once in a while too. This aircraft was made in 1962 I think, judging by it's tail number. People accuse the military of waste, but I think they got their money's worth out of all of the aircraft mentioned.
