I was one of the B-1 pilots at this Red Flag and this is one of my favorite Bone pics. Great close-up detail and framing! Awesome job! BTW, just a quick fact-check regarding the previous post: it's actually a Mach 1.25 aircraft and has vastly exceeded performance and longevity expectations.
Such an impressive shot! Yüksel
I'll never forget seeing a B-1 did a low flyover at a July 4th stadium show several years ago. Incredibly loud and incredibly powerful.
Unique shot, really makes you feel the power!Gongratulations Ivan and thanks for sharing!!!
I think the previous administration gutted our military with one unnecessary (Iraq) and one mis-managed (Afghanistan) war. Some people forget that constant warfare wears down human and non-human assets. Anyway, enough with the political sparring. I saw a B-1 do a high speed pass at MacDill years ago and even though I prefer commercial aviation, this is one of my all-time favorite aircrafts. Nice photo that captures the essence of the BONE.
Feel the power! Fun fact: The CFM56 core is based on the core of the B-1 engines (forgot the model).
One has to admire the BONE; politically cancelled by a liberal agenda then revived. It never quite met the intended performance desires (+ Mach 1) but is still quite impressive and has demonstrated it's operational capabilities. It channels the B-47 manuvers and is complimentary to the B-52 fleet with a similar role, but not identical. Let's hope our current liberal administration doesn't gut the military too bad... --DtD
