S4513 / 1 (cn 0035) Replica, built in 1978, of the French-built Spad XIII, which 15 of 16 US Air Service fighter squadrons that served on the Western Front. It was the type of aircraft flown by the top scoring US fighter ace - Captain Edward Rickenbacker (26 victories). When the US joined WWI, they had no fighter aircraft of their own, so they used French and British built aircraft. This replica is painted as Rickenbacker's Spad (reg S4513). Notice the "skunk works" Lockheed U-2 spy-plane behind. Flown as G-BYFO & D-EOWM.
