One of the best photo's on A.net. To the guy asking about the glow on the tips, I'm sure it's heat which makes the glow!

To answer your question about the lights on the rotors: Indeed they are there for the purpose of visibility. Those are EL [electroluminescent] strip lights, found on many military aircraft. They are the same kind of lights you'd find in your watch, and are used for exit/floor level lighting in some commercial aircraft. Very popular, and proven technology.

Lots of great shots an A.net......every now & then, we get a "super-great" shot....this Osprey photo is a "Super-Duper Great shot ! What a machine! is all I can say! I'm wondering, is there some kind of "glow-light" on the rotor tips so the prop circle is visible ? It sure does help greatly making this a fabulous photo.
