As my old art teacher used to tell me..."Try again...it's too busy...you're giving your viewers a headache."
Beautiful angle of a amazing looking aircraft! Love the paint scheme on this one. Also good quality picture.
To the folks comment about it being a modelers' nightmare - look up the Aztec paneling decals currently made for Star Trek ships, no sweat.
Such a nice Photo. But do they paint the A/C like this to annoy us model builder? Or is there a tactical reason.
This is a great angle for the shot. Being one of the 2 painters who were sought after to paint this jet, it think it was worth the 60+ days of painting and hundreds of hours aligning the angles to make all corners 90 degrees, it was all worht while.
I have never seen a plane in this camo design !
Spectacular image of the unique Hornet! The subject really pops. Great color. Great framing. Great shot.
Great Shot !!!! | |
Nice shot Ralphie, should have stuck a black cat emblem on it w/ a 13 if you know what I mean.
The conception initiates a realization in ordinary circumstances this low to the ground.
Amazing picture. | |
It's tetris yo! | |
Look like a patchwork-plane... thanks for a great picture!
My first thought was that perhaps the F/A-18 is now in the hands of a fourth company; conceived by Northrop, raised by MDD, adopted by Boeing and now time-sharing with Lego.
Great angle to use "Camera on the ground". To the poster claiming it's was not invented by the photographer... duh. I don't think up to this point anyone one stated that. I myself have been using this technique since 1978. My first examples were model planes as well so I too agree this picture has the look of a model plane on the concrete 'staged look'.
Camera on the ground is a technique in aviation photography to give the airplane a bigger-than-life look. This is a beautiful shot but it was not invented by him or anyone else in recent times. I have used this method for over 35 years in slide shooting and now digital too. It is standard in our photography of military and commercial aviation. This is a nice example of this technique.
Best paint job ever! 8 weeks of work and you get an awesome looking jet. hoorah!
Weird!! | |
Camera on the ground... hmmm are you sure this isn't model kit say in 1/32 scale? :P Can you imagine laying out decals on a model kit for this scheme? I'm going to assume this bird was painted because I can't see a 'wrap' lasting long at high speed.
Cool picture. Looks like a play off of the new "digital" camo that the ground forces are using, obviously not intended to decrease the visibility of the aircraft though!
Looks like the bug in newspaper wraparound. I kinda like this scheme. And a modeller's nightmare on Elm Street come true :D More difficult than the Swedish Saab Viggen two tone green, black and brown zig zag camo. f14dtomcat
The paint scheme is from the Navy Working Uniform. NWUs are pretty much the Navy's camo.
Today, the painter is in a psychiatric hospital ...
Looks funky! I like the digital camoschemes. :)
To ugly to look at (so great camo ;D)!
Thats a pretty cool shot, Ralph! -Fernando
Fine pic. Ugly scheme. | |
Excellent clear background and good color. But I'm confused! Is this a real camouflage or just an old garage sale sofa????
Dazzling scheme | |
Hats off to the Navy for this paint job! The Air Force is way too "tightly wound" to ever go for this sort of livery (too many MBA's). Looks great!
Damn Ralph! That thing is awesome. Great shot! -Matt
Great pic. A modeler's nightmare.
