Winglets are sweet, but these raked tips are looking better still, to me. And they are of course better than winglets in doing what they're there for: efficiency. I read in a paper issued at FAB '08 that the Poseidon is based on an -800 married to a -900 wing; that does make me wonder what the difference between an -8 and -900 wing is; must be internal, span (and dimensions) is/are the same I believe. I love this bird even though I don't like them pushing the beautiful Lockheed P-3 Orions away. In ancient Greek mythology, Orion is also way cooler than Poseidon, the latter is the ocean-ruling but always moaning god and losing of his brother Zeus/Jupiter the uppergod in most arguments. Also, he's the one who hates Odysseus/Ulysses for killing the cyclop (Polyhemos) as that was a (poorly formed)son of his and lets him go through the Odyssey by setting the winds and waters against him, creating gales and riptides. Orion was a giant of a man who actually makes an appearance in Homer's epic 'Odyssey' and, according to it, is a great hunter/hero, lover of Eos/Aurora, and turned into the constellation we all know by Zeus. So there you have it, one must be the coolest, hah!
Damn, that 737 has some nice raked wingtips!
I can't wait to see them do a carrier landing\takeoff with this bird..... Where's the tailhook ? :>
Good job!! | |
Nice bright day; new aircraft to me in the UK.
Nice capture! Can you imagine if Boeing were to make all A/C with PAX windows as large as this P-8A has? Think the rakes look better than the winglets? I do!
Great P-8 Poseidon !!! The ferocious armed type B737 !!!
"Colours" is a bit of a stretch. Still, it looks great!
It is nice to see the '37 with raked tips.
Nice sky, looks great. | |
That's a beautiful military aircraft right there! No doubt it has hundreds of sensors with all the antenna, bumps and bulges along the body. Also leads me to curiosity of when the United States is going to upgrade the US Symbol. Been like that for over 50 years if I'm not mistaken.
Love it. I have been waiting to see the P-8 and it looks like it is ready to hunt down some sub's.
