I love this photo. Do I have to give a reason?
Actually no... The "silver edges" are the normal color of the leading edges of each blade, while the black parts are the expanding de-icing boots.
Those "silver edges" are a part of the de-icing system!
AWACS | |
What is the purpose of the hawkeye?
I like how the edges of the blades are silver colored, makes them look really like blades of a knife
Fantastic aircraft these things sound great! Nice shot!
Im surprised that crews havent nicknamed this the flying meatcleaver yet!
Much more interesting than the props we see around today. Well done Micheal!
Holy scary giant props, Batman!
The fans are of new type so the photo more intresting.
Nice set of new blades. | |
Whoa...check out those monstrous props =)
Excellent! | |
Good prospective shot nice balance of shapes. They flow well together
Apart of the great evolution of the Hawkeye, what an evolution for the old Hamilton Standards and the propeller aviation in general. Great Front Shot!
Great picture. Nice paintjob on the nose and on the side of the fuselage with the American flag.
The 8-blade arrangement is due to eliminate resonance effect and as such to reduce vibrations..
This photo is a real education for anyone who has not seen this bird with 8 blade props before. An excellent photo; great color, light and clarity. Well framed and focused. I wonder exactly what it does for the aircraft?
Captures the unique propeller arrangement and the special markings on the nose. A very special aircraft!! Shot is very well framed.
I flew on the ol' E-2A with BIG 4-bladed props, but this one is a real meat grinder! By the way, the Grumman E-2 design is 45 years old and from the looks of this bird, still going strong!
Now those are some powerful looking blades!
I never knew the Hawkeye had 8 bladed propellors, wow. It's a cool airplane by the way.
