Wonderful! A very unique and special shot.
I really wish they didn't put this plane out of service.....=(
Really awesome photo! Just a pity we won't see any more of this beautiful aircraft!
Ah, reminds me of home (well, close - I was with VA-82 on USS Nimitz, 1979-1982). Re: the visitor from the Netherlands - the "NE" tail code refers to the Carrier Air Wing to which the squadron belongs. If the first letter is an "A", then the wing is based on the East Coast. If the first letter is an "N", then the wing is West Coast. CVW-8, to which VA-82 belonged, was coded "AJ". I hope that this helps.
I think the F-14 Tomcat is the most beautiful jetfighter ever, closely followed by the F-16 and Su-27. But I believe it was also a relatively large technical leap forward from jets like the F-4. Btw look at the tail at the right. What does 'NE' stand for? Nevada? New England? Or is it a base or squadron code?
It looks like a toy in a box! 5 Stars!
Very interesting photo, revealing some secrets of the interior of a modern aircraft carrier !
