Crash site of the Flying Fortress two miles from Cold Bay airport (CDB / PACD) which was then Ft. Randall Army Air Base. The aircraft reportedly crashed shortly after takeoff on August 15, 1947 killing all 8 crew members commanded by Marvin E. Calender.

This was a converted Search & Rescue aircraft SB-17. So that's why it probably had the crew of 8.
