This aircraft as well as a C-17 were flown to Nashville from Lake Charles, Louisiana the day before hurricane Rita was to hit. Both birds were full of evacuees and hospital patients that had been displaced by Katrina and were being moved from the path of Rita. [Canon 300D / 75-300mm IS]

This was MY plane when I was a C-130 crew chief! :) I was the Dedicated Crew Chief on her, and her name is The Deerslayer. Story is she hit a deer on take off, but thankfully there was no damage preventing her from ladning safely, but the left main landing gear doors needed some work, and the wheel well need a LOT of cleaning!
