This was the first plane that I crew chiefed at Travis. I received an award for achieving 8 hour per day utilization(in the air) for a 30 day period. The year was 1968 or 1969. I was stationed there from July 1966 to January 1970. I either was a crew member or crew chief of these three airplanes - 64650, 64653, 50231, and 50277. I worked on nearly all the C-141 serial numbers stationed there. I estimate that their were 50 C-141s assigned there. They were all C-141As. The first mods I believe were to lenghten the fuselage - C-141B, and the second mods were the the inflight refueling capability - C-141C. I use to receive a subscription to an Air Force magazine after my discharge. It is a shame to see these great birds go to the grave yard.
Sincerely,
Former Sgt. Gary L. Klein
