One of the greatest sights in aviation if you were lucky enough to experience it had to be the Lockheed SR-71A Blackbird in flight. Seen here pulling a tight turn which generated a lot of vapour.

One of the greatest planes ever created! I moved near Beale AFB shortly after they stopped flying so I never was able to see one in flight. Oh how I wish I could had seen them fly! Thank you for a great photo!!!

Somebody said, "I wonder if this plane did anything worth its billions?"
And I say, you have to wonder? The answer is obvious, this aircraft probably saved the world from nuclear war by giving commanders the information they needed when they needed it. It also was a show of strength of what the West was capable of doing. If we had shown weakness then the enemy might have pounced.

The vortexes off the engine nacelle shows the genius of Kelley Johnson and his team. I think slowing supersonic flow to the engines was quite a feat done at the time.

Great shot of one of the greatest airplanes ever created. This picture is also a true lesson of aerodynamics, showing the airflow on the aircraft, just like in awind tunnel.
Anyone knows what was the maximum g this aircraft could pull?

Intimidating yet beautiful! I wonder if we'll ever see an airliner that can fly as fast as she did. Indeed she was and still is in a league of her own.

I'm usually not into the 'black skin', but that right there is the sexiest bird to pierce in the air.
