Virginia Air National Guard Lockheed T-33A on the Air Guard ramp at Richmond, Virginia. The aircraft has the Virginia Air National Guard 149th Fighter Squadron's Rebel Flag insignia. In 1992 Virginia Governor L. Douglas Wilder outlawed the use of the Confederate battle flag, a symbol that many African-American airmen reportly found ofensive. The Rebel Flag Insignia had been used on the 149th FS aircraft, from the P-47 through the F-16. VA-ANG photo from Lonnie Brandon, crew chief, via Kenneth W. Keeton
