This Wild Weasel Phantom looks virtually brand new in the attractive (compared to the difficult-to-photograph Europe I scheme) Hill II Grays. The commanding officer's aircraft of Detachment 5, 4485th Test Squadron, it actually operated from George AFB, CA, while its parent unit was located at Eglin AFB, FL. The geographic separation may be explained by the fact that George housed the 35th Tac. Training Wing, which at that time included F-4G Wild Weasel training; Det. 5 added a test & evaluation function.
