Wow! This is outright amazing.
I especially love the 51-second exposure that causes the passing F/A-18 at the bottom left of the picture to blur and give the effect of motion. You can also see the jittery deck personnel move about.
Absolutely surreal. Great job Chad.

F/A-18, F/A-18, F/A-18, F/A-18, ......... EA-6. One of these things is not like the others. That is the coolest carrier deck shot I have ever seen. Great shot of the VFA-14 Tophatters in action.

This really is a "one in a million" photo. Several parts of the picture are a true work of art in their own right - e.g. the moving FA18 on the bottom left and the silhouettes against the bright white moonlight.
I actually found this picture quite enchanting, even from the thumbnail!

Yes, this eerie shot reminds me of the "Final Countdown", at the time that movie came out, I had two young sons, we watched that movie hundreds of times... one of my sons ended up in the Navy, flying aircrew in ES-3's in the Gulf, the other one flies a E-3A's (AWACS) in the Air Force !

Not only a "good eye" of the photographer, but brings back many memories of launching off the pointy end of a carrier. I just wish they had all been with with a "Commander's" moon rather than no moon!

I was on this Cruise, and have many pics similar to this one! I was a Final Checker of VFA-41 of CVW-11 onboard CVN-68. I was like what a great Navy photo, wait a minute. I recognize our bird right next to El 1. I see the Ravens, Tophatters, and Shrikes in the foreground. Funny I can't zoom in, but I might even be leaning on our jet in this pic, where the three people are. Great Photo!!! Too bad we didnt make it to Hobart or Brisbane! Perth was great though!
