Wow! Obviously a Tomcat driver who knew how to keep it on the deck.

Incredible Shot. You can see the pilot and RIO. I know from personal experience that this is a hard shot to get. One more thing while the Navy is good, the Air Force does it better.

It's a great picture showing raw power, but also very dangerous!! I would have to add - keeping it OFF the deck!!

My favorite 'Cat' of All Time. The original long range multiple track, shot and kill jet fighter plane.

Who says only (Russian) MiG and Sukhoi pilots know how to keep it this low? A Good fighter pilot (regardless of nationality) with sublime flying skills can do it.

Thanks, Kevin, for sharing this picture.

The finest tomcat shot bar none - no fancy vapours and burners, just raw power down on the deck.

Excellent shot just seconds before transitioning to the vertical in full afterburner. I've seen Tomcats perform this move many times, always impressed by the sheer power of this A/C. Too bad we won't get to see this again. Long live THE CAT!

Wonderfully captured. I started taking photos of planes recently and I know how hard it is to catch a fast jet.

This is my favourite f14 pic. a real working "tomcat" with loads of repair touch ups.and you have to look carefully for all the low-vis markings. loads of atmosphere.well worth a five!

Finest bird ('Cat?) in the skies. Looks he just pulled the gear up and didn't bother with any altitude. Go Navy!

I love f-14 and this one is the best shot of tomcat and shows the skillfulness of her pilot

The cat is simply two massive engines strapped to a cockpit and wings- this thing is about to show off it's thrust to weight ratio and clear the deck!- best shot of tomcat on the db! -josh

Haha! With those teeth and mr. death on her tail, it looks as if she's protesting against her retirement, and flying in a pretty nonchalant way just a few feet above the ground conributes to that (I agree with her, if she is tryin to say that!)!!!

I've seen this photo whith Sukhoi, or video with french Mirage F1 ... Somes pilots have "On/off" brain ... I'm sure it's "Maverick" and "Gus" in this cat!!!(with music "Higway to the Dangerzone") ...
Very good pic!

Was working weekend duty in the Nellis avionics backshop when this happened. It was one of the cat's last big shows (retired in 06) and the pilot was really workin it. Planes flying around can be old hat on base and so no one cared much about missing the show, (just miffed about working on a weekend.) But one of the smokers on shift saw the above 20 feet part of this display while getting his fix and was impressed enough to come and get the rest of us. Not the best view (standing on top of a picnic table in a storage compound two blocks away) but one of the best displays I've seen.
