This genuine WWII Wildcat was recovered in 1990 after spending over 48 years laying at the bottom of Lake Michigan. One of many aircraft lost to the cold fresh-water lake during WWII carrier-landing training. Owned by the National Museum of Naval Aviation (Pensacola), she has been painted to represent the Wildcat of WWII Ace Lt Butch O'Hare. The world's busiest airport was named after O'Hare in June-1949, six years after the great man's death.
