This common looking Orion with VP-26 codes is not at all what it seems. Number one there are visible modifications that tell it apart from other P-3Bs. Number one is the nose camera port like on the P-3C in the background. 2. the straight sided window behind the pilots station. 3. The flat optical quality plate in the forward left obsrevers position, 4. The the small pod just aft of the wing under the fuselage. 5. The two antennas just behind that pod. 6. Two sonobuoy ejection tubes. 154579 is not its correct BuNo, but either 153450 or 154577. It belongs to a special unit later designed as VPU-1 and had very sophisticated detection equipment. These aircraft were often seen at Keflavik after 1977 mostly when the Soviet Navy was nearby.
