The first four ski equipted C-130's were delivered to us navy squadron vx-6 in early 60's. 318, 319, 320 and 321 with 320 possibly being the last of the original four planes. I was air crew on this plane for two years in the antarctic. a very strong bird that took a terrific beating by landing on snow and hard ice while supporting the usa scientific expedition. in 1963, our crew and this plane set a unique record in polar aviation. we flew over the north pole, south pole and pole of inaccessability, all within seven months.
