This camera angle definately exaggerates this more than common menuever. Great shot though, perfect timing with the smoke vortexing behind

A visitor from United States posted Sun June 4, 2006: Camera angle exaggerates the crab. Yes it is standard to land with a crab in heavy aircraft. You can't expect the Captain to use the Cessna 152 "wing low" crosswind landing proceedure when he has to worry about scraping engine cowlings.

A visitor from United States posted Thu June 1, 2006: Yes, it is a scary landing. No, it's not standard procedure to touch down like that. What the pilot was attempting to do was bring down the airplane in a crab (not aligned with the runway) and at the last second use rudder to get the aircraft aligned at the moment it touches down. The capt mis-timed this landing.

Amazing photo though, the timing from the photog. couldn't have been any better capturing this very unique landing. Well done, Morris!
