Cool!

There is some good footage of this on youtube. Very cool stuff. Agreed, this livery is better than the Continental one. But I have said it before, I think this is absolutely better than the other way around, adopting this scheme but proceeding as 'Continental Airlines'. The livery will be changed some day, the tulip will return... if it does not, their marketeers are crazy.

Definitely not an every day approach

On what occassion did this UA 744 fly so low over the Alcatraz island ? Was it a regular approach to SFO ? I previously worked at Pier39 but I had never seen any aircraft flying so low over that area.
Awesome picture !!!

Perfect timing, gorgeous weather and one of the best settings for planes to strut their stuff! Definitely postcard worthy!

Beautiful shot and aircraft

What a shot and a flyby! Just beautiful. Chalk me up as another airliner enthusiast who will miss the UA 'blue' livery! Far superior in looks and class compared to the drab CO gray and powerpoint globe. The colors and banded U 'tulip' will be dearly missed; especially on the gorgeous 747!

Awesome!!!!

Nice Picture!! Too bad the 747 will be run out by the upcome of the Airbus A380:)

A visitor from United States posted Wed November 24, 2010:
What a contrast, A photo showing a symbol of confinement and the freedom of flight. In the dictonary under the word freedom should be a photo of the Boeing 747. The A-380 will never match the 747.

I was actually on Alcatraz when the 747 passed. Just watching the air show.

I believe this is alcatraz

Isn't that the TSA's new security screening facility?

A visitor from United States posted Tue November 23, 2010:
Will be a sad day when those 24 beautiful UA 747's are put into CO's ugly boring dull gray livery!!!

A visitor from Netherlands posted Tue November 23, 2010:
Nice capture of alcatraz.

A visitor from Brazil posted Tue November 23, 2010:
Wow, fantastic photo, perfect timing !

A visitor from India posted Tue November 23, 2010:
For me the best part is that the aircraft is shown in reference to ground without flaps, landing gear and a high AOA. :)
Great photo
