Great looking livery, the only change should be to move the tan/orange color on the belly down a little bit. BUt that'll introduce other costs, maybe later hopefully.

That's a different look for sure.

Wow I didn't know it came out so soon! At first I thought I was "seeing things". Nice catch of a good looking aircraft!

EWW! That is a HORRIBLE PAINT SCHEME!

Eww...shoulda kept the United schemes, those were better than the bland Continental paints.

It's an image of those "Spot the Difference" ones.

The livery actually isn't as bad as i would have thought it would be. i would still have preferred the united livery being the base with the continental name, but this will work fine.

I love this scheme cant wait to see uniteds 747s in it!!

Way to think outside the box on that paint scheme! *sigh*

On the one hand, this is quite sad to notice that both corporate cultures will be splitted and this livery makes an awkward mix between the two. On the other hand, in my view, the livery combines quite well the "United" with the Continental Globe. Next step is to admit that the astonishing United livery is going to disappear.

Honestly? That new livery looks really boring, I liked the new United much better! Just changing the title may be the cheapest method, but I would have kept the new United c/s...

This is a very boring livery. I cant believe 2 great airlines can't decide on a good color scheme.

I completely understand the logic of keeping the CO livery but I do think the white/blue UA scheme was/is a sleeker more modern livery. Perhaps they could make the 'United' font a bit more interesting?

Fine, I Admit The Plane Looks Great, But I'm Still Not Excited For My Favorite Airline To Change Names, Especially Into A Name I Hate.

Giving this pic 4 stars, but only for the picture though. If there were a livery rating option on a.net, this would get the lowest possible. Way to go United :/

I dont like that paint scheme, It's boring!!

Normal picture of a normal airplane. Blah on the font. The old Continental font was better.

It needs a "tulip" to make it look complete.

Great shot, Jeffrey! Excellent find and congrats on being the first to snag this. Unfortunately, this photo confirms all my worst fears regarding the livery: really boring and a disservice to both the ex-UA and ex-CO schemes. Let's hope for a new, fresh livery that this combined carrier deserves!

What an ugly scheme.... really disappointed.... good shot jeff

I do love the continental logo and the blue tail. It would've been nice if they kept the blue underbelly and engines. Maybe even the current United font.

I see 3 airlines in this paint scheme. Continental, United, and the word United is in the Delta type of font.

Nice photo but the livery looks more like a temporary, bad photoshop job. Horrible choice, lettering doesn't work - at all.

Great pic :) Thx for sharing us your inspirations of photography, without the photographers we would not have anything to enjoy so we should continue to praise them with their stunning work :).

As for the paint, gross and bland and pointless. Where the heck is "Airlines" on all of the UAL paint they had "United Airlines" tbh without that, this is nothing.

Well well what a creative genius.continental better stayed at skyteam.

The globe is cool enough to keep. But the titles are boring and looks cheap and unprofessional. Maybe they should also stick to the old United title or create a new one.

I don't think the paint scheme is the problem because Continental's colors appealed more to business and were more formal... The problem I think really lies in the bland UNITED name that has to overstretched to even look decent on the crisp Continental colors. Remember airlines are businesses not some personal flight group that appeals to demands of what they can't afford in a crap economy. Great shot too I think this still helps fuel the fire of the whole merger. 5*

One of the ugliest schemes flying around now!!!

It indeed looks better than I expected, BUT the 'old' United livery is way better!

I don't like that emblem for the united jets

Like most people, I have to say that the United livery is much better than the Continental one, and just because of economical reasons, you don't change liveries... Although I have to say that the new livery isn't as bad as I thought.

Wow people sure don't like this livery! No apologies from me, I love it. Always have liked
the gold/blue tail. I think United should have
kept the old UNITED font - just think of how
many $millions could have been saved, now they
have to replace all those logos! Well it's a
super photo with lots of action in it! Can't wait
to see B747-422's in this livery!

Good photo! I think, the livery looks horrible - that font - seriously?
Anonymous

I suppose it will grow on me....
it always takes time for them to do so.
I just think they could have totally gone in another direction in terms of branding after this merger, but then again this IS a new direction for United.

This livery was introduced on the 12th of feb 1991, the same day I was born making it 19 years old and really rather dated. the united livery was modern and sleek. why did they not call it united continental airlines? a good photo, i like it a lot. but would prefer a different livery

The most weird merger ever. I really think that livery and the merger is a big joke when I first saw the website. But seriously, it is now out? OMG! I have to say that the continental livery is good, but man, putting "UNITED" on to the CO's colour and with this stupid fonts? NO WAY!

United Font, (old United Belly), Globe Tail would look good... but the gray belly is the only thing saying United.

Anyway, nobody complained about China Airlines getting a hybrid Dreamliner livery on their B744s... :-)

Great shot, crappy livery though. Hey, it's not your fault. :-)
Anonymous

Nobody complained about the hybrid Dreamliner-China Airlines livery cos that livery was great and the combo was original. This looks(/is) like a boring Co-jet and is as original as a politician announcing tax cuts... 'United', please put the vibrant blues back on in a few months' time.

I've always thought the United color scheme was a relic of corporate-thought. Gray? Really??? How, uh, bland. This is closer to the old "Friendly Skies" and much more upbeat and safe (aka VISIBLE). I agree with others - the font is lacking -- the old Continental font was far better.

Why are you people calling this a NEW livery?! Just because you change a name DOESN'T make it NEW!!! Only thing "new" is the name and font! That POS livery is from 1991!!! Take the gold line off, lower the gray some, take the globe off and put on a yellow bird, what do you have?! LUFTHANSA!!! LOL

Just as I said in the comment I left on photo ID # 1604697, United does, once again, have 737's back in the air! Not exactly how I would have predicted they would return...but nevertheless, they are back!

Like the CAL livery, but the United font looks to block style. CAL's font would have been much better. Great shot, but sad..
