Interesting shot from the Checker-board Hill. Firstly the UA's B744 was banking tight towards the buildings!!! Besides that you can find crowds of photographers shooting this aircraft from another angle. Just move your sight down from the front landing gear until the purple/white building. Then you can see them leaning against the upper balconies of the famous building, where you can get the landing shots of IGS approach Rwy 13.

Great to see a shot of a low-flying jumbo turning into short final into Kai Tak! This is a scene that hasn't been possible since Chep Lap Kok opened in 1997!

Runway 13!!!! No wonder why some pilots had rough landings in this airport. Nice sight though.

This pic really shows what it was like at Kai Tak. I have had the experience only as a passenger. I can only imagine what it was like from the front seat.

Incredible shot. Imagine living in one of those buildings with those Jumbos flying over you.

How I miss Kai Tak International.

Have to admit what a remarkable history Kai-Tek has made. For its extremely busy operation over those extremely populated high rises, they never had any accident clashing on buildings. Unfortunately there were several bad landings but on the runway only.

This picture that Simon Wong took, is so beautiful, at there you can see the most beautiful parts of a Boeing 747 and that is the thing that I want to see in airplanes pictures.

I lived in Hong Kong for 50 years, and only moved out when the chinese moved in. So much has changed since then, mostly for the worse. Hong Kong was a great city back in those days, and Kai Tak was its high point.
