N529UA (cn 25019/352) "United 764 heavy, cleared to land runway 27 right. Caution, American MD-80 is on your 10 o'clock toward the parallel runway 27 left." "Okay sir. We are in sight." After smooth flight from Dallas Fort Worth for two hours, we are welcomed by the beautiful setting sun over the Lake Michigan. From our port side window, we could see a wonderful view of downtown Chicago skyline and shoreline. Sears Tower nicely stands out. Famous "Windy City" seems to be damn calm this afternoon.

Beautiful shot of the Windy City. Man, I love Chicago. I remember driving into the city and just seeing the Sears Tower materialize out of the fog. Just stunning. Unfortunately, that same fog obstructed the view flying in to the city. Chicago, if you get a chance, visit it and have a ball.

I love this shot, since I'm a Chicagoan, and it truly captures the spirit of Chicago. You can clearly see the begining of Lake Shore Drive and downtown.

If I'm not mistaken, I was on that AA MD-80 and saw this United 757 at my two o'clock. Strange how things like that can happen. Great shot.

A visitor from Finland posted Sat November 26, 2005:
Really beautiful picture!! And about the "heavy" thing, ATC can and should use the heavy suffix also for the 757-200. The heavy is used for aircrafts 136,000kg and over. 757-200 isn't so heavy, but the wing of -200 series creates such a strong wing tip vortices that ATC also uses heavy for 757-200.

Brilliant clarity for such a detailed photo. For Chicago, a very clear sky & perfect time of day. My apartment is in the middle ground, just west of the harbor!

A visitor from United States posted Thu November 24, 2005:
Great picture. One comment regarding the caption, though. The B-757-200 is not a heavy aircraft in the ATC system, only the -300 series is. Chicago Approach would not have used the heavy suffix with the UAL764 callsign.
