A visitor from United Kingdom posted Sun February 26, 2006:I suppose the moon was about 40 degrees above the horizon. The plane came in cruising altitude, it was not from Stuttgart, the next airport (50km). Martin Wagner, author of the photo
A visitor from Germany posted Sat February 25, 2006:My question qould be how high above horizon (how many degrees) moon was situated in this particular shot. When its not far away from horizon and there's an airport like FRA about 80km away it's nothing unusual to see a plane passing the moon. Taking a shot of this A+ quality is a different thing!! Congrats Andreas

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Fri February 24, 2006:Excuse me when I write again, but I am a visitor from Germany and not from the United Kingdom! You can see this perhaps because my English is not the very best:-))) Greetings, Martin Wagner, author of the photo
A visitor from United Kingdom posted Fri February 24, 2006:I want to avoid that speculations occur that the photo is a fake. I have the original file with the EXCIF-Data, it is still on the digital storage card. When I made the picture the camera was turned on the telescope because of the M42-Adapter. So I had to turn the moon on the computer. Then I put it in a black 2000x3000 pixel frame, reduced it to 800x1200 Pixel and sharpened the photo. In reality the plane did not fly horizontally but nearly vertically. Astronomers know that the moon on the northern hemisphere is normally turned 90°, never like this. If you have detailed questions about the photo ask me! Greetings, Martin Wagner, author of the photo.
A visitor from United States posted Fri February 24, 2006:Photo's like this make me revisit Airliners.net often. Simply awesome - capturing the aircraft at exactly the right moment. Glueckwunsch!
