It doesn't show, but this immaculate Skymaster was delivered to the USAAF in June 1945 (as 45-507), which means this beauty celebrated its 60th birthday last year. Roger Brooks purchased this former Arizona-based airtanker (Tanker 161) in February 2006. He used it to fly all kinds of freight out of its new homebase at Fairbanks, Alaska. Unfortunately it crashlanded near Nenana, AK on 17 January 2007.

Hi Aad! Love this photograph. What a plane. Perfectly captured in a perfect sky. You say this particular aircraft is 60+. From my perspective, and, looking just past the nose (to the right) it appears that this 'old gal' is keeping tight lipped about her age. Anybody else see it?

Thanks for the memories

This is an absolutely perfect shot of a true classic. Note the extended and illuminated landing lights. You can almost hear the R-2000 engines.
