Aloft durring attack on Pearl Harbor. On the morning of December 7, 1941 Roy Vitousek and his son Martin rented this Aeronca 65TC from Gambo Flying Service for a sightseeing trip. On their return to Oahu they encountered Japanese aircaft and quickly realized Pearl Harbor was under attack. Falling in behind an incoming Japanese attack group and momentarily safe, they were soon spotted and hit by machine-gun fire from "Kate" bombers. Miraculously they managed to esacape without serious damage.
