Does anyone know what the black handle looking thing is behind the FO's hand?

Really nice photo, love it. And those pilots must have been sitting remarkably still!

Ismael Jorda never fails to show the drama of speed. Freezing speed, a paradox, here resolved in perfect mastery! And thanks so much for the shooting details! How were you able to go home with that clear result by shooting 10s while the fuselage must have vibrated like hell?

Interesting to see a first officer with a 787 lanyard around his neck piloting an Airbus. ;)

Excellent photograph though! You're lucky the FO kept his hand on the flaps knob throughout the 10 second shutter time!

Ismael I see your 787 neck strap there. Blasphemy. ;) That's my office too by the way...on the mechanic side of things. This photo reached out and grabbed me. I like your subject matter, your lighting, your timing, your background action, even your reflections. Shall I go on? 5 stars young man. This has got to be in the running for best of best.

In answer to the first commenter, about the black handle thingy...the First Officer mentioned the parking brake handle, which is set by lifting slightly and turning it clockwise 1/4 turn. (no toe action required to set the parking on an airbus) But there is a more obvious "black handle" that you might be talking about and that handle is mounted to the printer unit. It is used to lift open the printer access cover in order to change paper rolls. There is one other black handle thing at the rear of the center console and that is the landing gear manual extension crank handle, which in this photo is folded down into it's stowage recess. The red button releases the handle up so it rotates up above the console and so many turns clockwise causes the landing gear to release from it's up-locks and the wind pulls it into the down and locked position....you hope. The main gear tires slide down a Teflon coated ramp on the wheel well doors. If it clears the doors it should lock into place. It's failed to do so at least once.

Nearly incredible sharpness for a 10s exposure in a moving airplane. Absolutely great job of the photographer! Of course 5* and my choice today!

We're you expecting a Go-Around, why is the F/Os hand on the flap lever?

Thanks for the nice words, friends. I'm glad you like it so much.
Actually i'm the guy sitting on the right seat. Autopilot is engaged and picture is obviously prepared taking into account even the smallest detail, that's why we are standing still, and instruments are not moving at all. Just the trim-wheel next to the throttle has moved a little bit. The black handle behind my hand is the parking brake. Cheers...! Ismael Jordá
